Process
How OCS Works
A defined sequence, so you always know what stage you are in and what comes next.
The short answer
The OCS process runs in five stages: a Funding Assessment to understand your situation, a strategy session identifying realistic capital channels, document and financial preparation including the business plan and projections, submission support with participating lenders, and follow-through on underwriting questions. OCS does not approve financing; we prepare and guide the request.
Reviewed by Joe Maldonado, OCS founder and former commercial banker with more than 20 years of commercial transaction experience.
1. Funding Assessment
Structured intake covering the business, credit, collateral, equity and objective.
2. Strategy session
We identify which channels fit, and which do not, before any application is made.
3. Preparation
Business plan, projections, sources and uses, and the full document checklist.
4. Submission and follow-through
Package delivered, questions answered, process tracked to a decision.
Stage one: Funding Assessment
You complete the assessment form or speak with us directly. We capture the business profile, time in business, revenue, credit range, equity available, collateral and the specific use of funds.
This is also where unrealistic expectations get corrected. It is better to hear early that a request needs restructuring than to learn it after three declines.
Stage two: strategy and channel selection
Different capital channels answer different problems. An SBA 7(a) request, an equipment lease and a factoring facility each suit a different situation, and pursuing the wrong one wastes months.
- Review of the realistic options given your profile
- Comparison of cost, speed, documentation burden and risk
- Agreement on the target structure and the preparation scope
Stage three: preparation
- Business plan written for the intended reader
- Three-year projections with documented assumptions
- Sources and uses statement
- Document checklist: tax returns, financials, debt schedule, PFS, entity documents
- Review for internal consistency across every document
Stage four: submission support
The completed package is presented to appropriate capital sources. We help you respond to underwriting questions, provide additional documentation and keep the process moving.
Throughout, you know what was submitted, to whom and what is outstanding.
Stage five: decision and next steps
If an approval is issued, we help you read the terms and understand the obligations before you sign. If the answer is no, we review the reasons and discuss whether restructuring, a different channel or a period of strengthening makes sense.
